It’s Turkey Day in the United States, a day for family and friend to gather together, eat too much really good food, and (often) watch parades and maybe some football.
But that’s not how this day started out. Thanksgiving has it roots deep in American history. Generally, it’s understood as a celebration of some of the original colonists surviving their first, brutal winter in what would become the United States of America.
Thanksgiving was declared a national holiday in 1864 by then-President Abraham Lincoln.
Today, a century and a half later, it’s easy to lose sight of the historical meaning. There’s just so much commercialization and hype,. But we all have things to be grateful for, and Thanksgiving still serves as reminder that it’s good us to do exactly that – give thanks.
- I’d like to thank everyone who reads this blog. It’s my privilege to provide the best advice I possibly can to dentists on how to get more and better patients.
- I’d like to thank the remarkable men and women at SmartBox for the work they do to help more than 550 dentists on three continents succeed on their own terms.
- I’d like to thank all my friends for their camaraderie, caring, and helpfulness.
- I’d like to thank my beautiful wife, Manja, and our beautiful children for making my life happier and more meaningful than I ever thought possible.
I could go on, but the bottom line is that I have a lot to be thankful for. I’m not just surviving, I’m thriving, and so is SmartBox and the dentists who work with us.
It’s my sincere wish that you’re thriving, as well. I hope that your practice is profitable, you’re growing year over year, your staff are well-compensated, and your retirement is on track.
But I know some, or most, of those wishes aren’t coming true for far too many dentists.
I’m not going to give you a sales pitch on Thanksgiving. You’re reading this blog, so you’ve already arrived on the SmartBox website. You’ll contact us when you’re ready.
I’ll just say this: you can get more patients, more profits, and more freedom. Whether you choose to work with SmartBox or not, I hope that all those things come to you.
If you observe and celebrate Thanksgiving, may you be surrounded today by loving family and friends. I hope that your meal is delicious, and that your favored football team wins.
And I hope that next Thanksgiving, you’ll have even more to be thankful for.
