I love the challenge of taking complex issues and processes and breaking them down for readers using words, infographics, and video
In her first job after high school, Kirsten sterilized dental equipment in her dad’s endodontics practice.
While she enjoyed certain aspects of the job — namely wearing scrubs, talking with patients, and going to Steak n’ Shake with her dad after work — she stepped away from the Ultrasonic cleaner, picked up a pen, and became a writer.
Kirsten attended Indiana University Bloomington, where she majored in journalism and spent most of her time in the Indiana Daily Student newsroom. It was there she learned to report, write, and edit under deadline.
Prior to joining the SmartBox team, Kirsten worked as a reporter for a large metro newspaper, where she wrote primarily about education. She entered the journalism industry amid a digital shift, so writing for an online audience and optimizing content for search is second nature.
She knows that writing effective copy begins with understanding the target audience — both their needs and how they consume content.
“I love the challenge of taking complex issues and processes and breaking them down for readers using words, infographics, and video,” Kirsten said.
A native Ohioan, Kirsten now lives in Louisville, Kentucky with her husband, Devon, and their cats. If she’s not writing, you’ll find her frequenting local restaurants, dancing, or binge-listening podcasts.
