Gary Wilson navigates the complex legal framework surrounding advertising and marketing regulations for the benefit of SmartBox clients.
Gary joined SmartBox after a career as an advocacy journalist and legal analyst, which spanned multiple continents.
Gary’s editorial writing has been published by dozens of newspapers, magazines, and websites including Philly.com, Watchdog.org, Pennsylvania Independent, Governing magazine, The Pocono Record, and Region’s Business. Several of his articles have been attached as court exhibits during major trials, including a lawsuit by the ACLU against the state of Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining SmartBox, Gary – a native of South Bend, Ind. – spent time living and working in Florence, Italy; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Santiago, Chile. While in Chile, Gary interned for the Chilean government’s Ministry of Justice. He also traveled to more than two dozen countries on three continents.
Gary Wilson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with Latin Honors from the University of Southern Indiana. Following his undergraduate education, Gary earned an academic achievement scholarship for $84,000 to Case Western Reserve University, where he graduated with a Juris Doctor degree.
During law school, Gary served as the editor-in-chief of his law school newspaper and an associate editor for the War Crimes Prosecution Watch. Gary was also awarded for his academic achievement with the CALI Excellence for the Future Award® in Immigration Law.
When he’s not furiously writing and researching on his trusted MacBook for SmartBox, Gary Wilson enjoys traveling in Latin America and watching professional wrestling. He recently combined both interests by traveling with his father to Mexico to attend a lucha libre (Mexican professional wrestling) event.
