Clay Drysdale

Digital Content Expert

As a young child, something resonated in him whenever he read a Peanuts comic and saw Snoopy typing out those famous words: “It was a dark and stormy night.” He longed to write just like that—crouched over a typewriter, cranking out a great story. That, or become a stuntman like his hero, Evel Knievel.

Somewhere deep inside, Clay always knew he wanted to be a writer.

His writing career actually began about that same time, when one day he decided to write his autobiography. He abandoned his manuscript after one or two paragraphs, however—he was only seven and didn’t have a lot of material to use for his book.

Over the years he kept writing—mostly stories of one kind or another, creative nonfiction, and essays. Along the way he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Kentucky.

After college Clay survived a stint selling life insurance, then spent several years working in the automotive industry.

Now, as a member of the SmartBox team, Clay feels that his previous career and life experiences are finally coming together. “I love the challenge of writing for SmartBox’s dentists. It feels good knowing that the words I string together are helping build their practices,” he said.

In his free time, Clay enjoys doing spontaneous activities with his family, reading suspense novels, watching Seinfeld reruns, and drinking dark roast coffee.
